ANTS JOINS VAWC ADVOCACY: VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN-FREE COMMUNITY STARTS WITH ME

 

Romblon National Institute of Technology supports the Violence Against Women– Free Community by participating in the worldwide 18-Day Campaign through a symposium with the theme “VAW-Free Community Starts With Me” last December 12, 2016 held at the Food and Beverage Services Hall of Romblon National Institute of Technology. This is observed annually from November 25 to December 12 to raise awareness that VAW is a human rights violation. The 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence addresses that VAW is a public issue of national concern and our goal is to protect the human rights of women and its everyone’s’ commitment to address all forms of VAW. The Philippine government has participated in this worldwide event with the following national legal mandates; Proclamation 1172 series 2002 declaring November 25 to December 12 as the 18 day campaign to end VAW. and Republic Act 10398 (2013) declaring November 25 as National Consciousness Day for Elimination of VAWC.

The program was spearheaded by OIC– Vocational School Administrator Elna Baldea together with the faculty, staff and trainees from different program qualification of the institution. The resource speaker of the symposium is P02 Charry Merano, Women’s Desk Officer of the Philippine National Police Alcantara Chapter. P02 Merano talked about the reality and rates of women and children being abused and experiencing physical, sexual, psychological and economic violence. She also discussed  what we can do in order to avoid such violence which is starting with ourselves.

The faculty and staff also wore orange shirts as the designated color for the said event. The speaker was handed a certificate of appreciation by the OIC– VSA and VIS– Designate Flordeliza Cajilig.

Every one has their right. A right that must be respected. It is everyone’s responsibility to see to it that these rights are being followed as well as not abused.

2016 ANTS Teacher’s Day Celebration

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 242, a simple celebration for National Teacher’s Month with the theme “Guro Kabalikat sa Pagbabago” was held at the Alcantara National Trade School and participated by its teachers and personnel last September 19. The festivity aimed to acknowledge the nobility of the teaching profession and express thanksgiving for their services rendered. A program was organized and the Prayer for Teachers was recited lead by Mrs. Mely Recto. Students from different qualifications performed dance number and prepared songs for our dear teachers. A morning exercise to the beat of a modern song was spearheaded by the Food Processing NCII trainees. Before the end of the program teachers were given flowers by the students/trainees to express their gratitude for the positive influence and learning they have gained. To promote teamwork and camaraderie, parlor games were done. Balloon games participated by pairs and groups encouraged them to work together to win the game. Banana eating with blindfolds and message relay  fostered trust among one another. After the tiring morning a simple salo-salo satisfied everyone especially with the mouthwatering litson served. The videoke machine awaken everyone’s singer mode which enlightened the whole afternoon.

2016 ASEAN Celebration

The Alcantara National Trade School together with the faculty, staff and students formally raised an awareness campaign in support of ASEAN Community 2015 and the Philippines’ Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017 through a program with the theme, “The ASEAN Community” held last August 1, 2016. The personnel wore there costumes and SB Jose Luis S. Morales talked about the theme as the invited guest speaker. The singing of the ASEAN Anthem was lead by FBS NCII students. The ASEAN is a community of opportunities under three pillars namely; political– Security, Economic and Socio-Cultural with the goal of improving the lives of its people reflected on the economic, cultural, and social development, improvement of living standards and regional peace. One Vision. One Identity. One Community.

Celebration of the Holy Eucharist: A Religious Commitment Held Every Third Thursday of the Month at ANTS

The Alcantara National Trade School asking for God’s grace and guidance as well as thanking Him for a bountiful blessings through a special mass which is held every third Thursday of the month, beginning in October.
This Catholic Eucharistic rite is officiated by Reverend Father Nestor M. Gadon, Parish Priest of St. Thomas of Villanova Parish Church, Poblacion, Alcantara.
The mass is held at the Food and Beverage Services Laboratory and was attended by the faculty, staff and students who committed themselves to this religious duty as they gave praises and offerings before His Holy Name.
After the mass, a simple salo-salo was held to celebrate His grace.

ANTS Partakes in Coastal Clean-up Drive

The Alcantara National Trade School did its share in Coastal Clean-up Drive, in connection for the upcoming celebration of Battle of Sibuyan Sea on October 25. The Coastal Clean- up was held on October 22 which was a resounding success with the participation of faculty, staff and students of ANTS in various program qualifications. The students removed all kinds of trash that were washed to shores from unique items -food wrappers and plastic bags. The recyclable items, such as, glass bottles, plastic bags and water bottles were segregated and handed to the garbage collectors of the town. Through this, ANTS faculty, staff and students have made a meaningful difference thru a humble share in maintaining the cleanliness at this historical landmark.
